Urban Compact Single Lane & Hybrids

  • S. Milledge Rd. & Whitehall Rd. Athens, GA

As a main corridor for a large population that travels from Oconee County to Athens for employment and education at the University of Georgia, S. Milledge Road and Whitehall Road experienced heavy traffic. Due to a combination of poor sight distance and a poor intersection lane geometry, commuters experienced long delays on this roadway.

  • Brighton Ave. / Deering Ave. / Falmouth St. Portland, ME

MTJ Roundabout Engineering provided the optimized geometrics and design recommendations for these two intersections. The safety of all users was a high priority for this project, situated in a mixed-use area – including the University of Southern Maine campus, residential, and freight traffic.

  • Coffman Rd. & Brand Rd. Dublin, OH

MTJ Roundabout Engineering provided roundabout capacity analysis, design alternative development, and final horizontal design for this intersection for the City of Dublin as a sub-consultant to GPD Group.

  • Cty M & Brookfield Rd. Brookfield, WI

This existing congested all-way stop in the City of Brookfield at the intersection of County Highway M and Brookfield Road was experiencing significant vehicular delay and was not pedestrian-friendly. Key to the roundabout feasibility (vs. a signalized alternative) was MTJ/OSC’s expert design to address the significant horizontal and vertical constraints present at the intersection.

  • Woodgate Rd. & Ogden Rd. Montrose, CO

MTJ provided capacity analysis and design services for this roundabout, which replaced an existing skewed and offset stop-controlled intersection that was experiencing safety and congestion problems.

  • Main St. & Market St. New Albany, OH

MTJ Roundabout Engineering designed this 126’ ICD compact roundabout in New Albany, OH. Geometric elements were designed to achieve capacity objectives while maintaining essential design elements that promote safety for all modes (vehicular, pedestrian, and cyclist). The key to that safety is keeping speeds low.
