FEATURED PROJECTS

La Quinta Village Corridor | La Quinta, CA

The Village of La Quinta launched a Complete Streets project that included a series of 5 roundabouts.

66th Ave. & Portland Ave. | Richfield, MN

MTJ was hired to improve driver comprehension to reduce specific crash types.

SR 161 & Cosgray Rd. | Dublin, OH

The City of Dublin, OH, needed design improvements to optimize safety for all modes, accommodate large trucks, and meet the intersection's long-range operational requirements while minimizing adverse impacts on the existing and proposed adjacent properties. MTJ, working with prime partner firm GHD Inc. MTJ, provided analysis and horizontal geometric design optimization, along with signing and signing oversight for this successful project.

Main St. & Century Ave. | Waunakee, WI

The Village of Waunakee wanted to maintain a two-lane roadway through their historic downtown.

California Blvd & 1st St. / 2nd St. | Napa, CA

MTJ Roundabout Engineering provided roundabout capacity analysis, horizontal design optimization, signing and pavement marking recommendations, and visualizations for this project as a member of the consulting team led by Omni-Means.

SR 99 / SR 104 / Twin Cities Rd. | Galt, CA

This interchange was over 50 years old and needed replacement, but reconstruction was still decades away. The MTJ/Omni-Means team developed a cost-effective and timely solution that included two closely spaced roundabouts and a new freeway on-ramp to replace the existing congested signalized intersection.

Quotes from Project Partners

“The RCOC has engaged MTJ 's roundabout-specific operational analysis, concept development, and final horizontal geometric services, a partnership that has lasted nearly 20 years.

Working with MTJ has been instrumental in the timely resolution of strategic decision-making issues, allowing for both time and cost savings in design schedule and, notably, construction costs with reduced adverse impacts. We highly recommend MTJ’s services”

Jeff Obrien, PE | Design Head / RCOC/Road Commission for Oakland Co., MI

“Thank you! MTJ’s documentation of design review findings and optimized design recommendations and his collaborative communications exceeded our expectations. Mark met our very tight schedule for this high-profile development-led project. Myself, Mark Melnychenko, our Transportation Director, and Phil Kercher, thank you for all your effort on this project.”

Kiran Guntupalli P.E. PTOE, Principal Traffic Engineer, City of Scottsdale AZ

“A special thank you to Mark because the updates based on his design recommendations helped “turn the tide, internally and externally. Your involvement has had a great positive impact on the project.”

Eva D. Vargas, PE, AICP, Project Engineer, City of Cleveland Mayor’s Office of Capital Projects

"We have learned the importance of using a true subject-matter expert for our roundabout projects.

Mark Johnson is a unique specialist with an eye for the subtle design nuances that can make or break roundabout performance and safety.

Whether he provides direct design or peer review, we trust Mark to bring the knowledge, experience, and input necessary to ensure our roundabouts are delivered at the highest level.”

Greg Muhonen, PE | Public Works Director | Town of Estes Park, CO

"In addition to providing design input and conducting peer reviews, critical for any well-designed roundabout, Mark thoroughly understands the 'how and why’ of roundabouts and can effectively communicate this understanding to both plan reviewers and the general public."
