A detailed engineering plan for a roundabout intersection showing various lanes, entries, and exits, including labels for Riley Rd., Baldwin Rd., Gregory Rd., and the surrounding roads. The plan includes notes on driveway modifications and traffic flow adjustments.

Baldwin Rd. Corridor

Orion Township, MI

  • BACKGROUND

The Road Commission of Oakland County needed a solution to improve safety, access and traffic flow in the corridor along Baldwin Road. The revitalization project includes a 5-roundabout corridor that will be phased. Phase 1 will include the intersections of Baldwin and Judah and Gregory Roads.

  • SUMMARY

MTJ Roundabout Engineering, working with OHM, provided optimized final horizontal geometrics that addressed several issues:

-Phi and view angles to the left

-Speed control at pedestrian crossing locations

    -“Intersection angle”

-Safety – allowing for landscaping and/or other screening design features within splitter islands

Highlights

  • 5-roundabout corridor

  • Improved pedestrian safety

  • Maintained business access
