Franklin Blvd. Corridor: 7 Mini-Roundabouts

OVERVIEW
The City of Cleveland launched a rehabilitation project for Franklin Blvd. that included a series of 7 mini-roundabouts to promote traffic-calming along the corridor.
SUMMARY
Working with partner firm GPD Group, MTJ provided roundabout peer review and horizontal design optimization that included:
- Review of proposed mini-roundabout designs
- Developing final horizontal designs
- Documentation of designs and modifications
- Application of appropriate traffic and roadway design principles (system considerations)
MTJ’s design optimization/peer review approach ensured:
- Adherence to roadway and roundabout design safety principles
- State-of-the-practice mini-roundabout design techniques
- Safety for all modes – pedestrians, bicyclists, vehicles
- Application of best practices to conform to FHWA Mini-Roundabouts Technical Summary
